Our pathway to carbon net-zero
In 2022 our Church Council (Managing Trustees) agreed that we should do everything we could be as climate and nature friendly as we could.
With the help of grants we have ascertained how we could change our heating system to seriously reduce our carbon footprint. This could include the installation of a PV array with battery to harness the power of the sun to generate electricity, and heat pumps to replace our dependance on gas heating.
The first step is now complete with 29 PV panels on the roof and 15 kWp battery storage in constant use. We are already exporting green electricity when the sun shines brightly and we have a surplus available beyond that which we use and when the batteries are fully charged. Our next step is to get paid for that electricity when we eventually get the meter changed (this is not as quick as we had hoped) and feed-in tariff sorted!
